Danbury Mint / 1961 Corvette Convertible / DM DISCONTINUED / 1:24th Scale
White w/ Silver
The model looks rich, to my eyes, in Ermine White, set off so nicely by the red bucket seats and moveable sun visors. This color was the most popular seller that year with 3,178 units sold. Danbury was even thoroughly accurate in giving us the white wheels and medium-wide whitewall tires, whereas the '62 sported the thin whites. The model carries the nuance of differences between DM's 1962 model and this one as they appeared in 1:1 scale. The correct engine for '61 is the 283 cube small block, this one carbureted rather than the FI version on the '62 model. The same great features are here as on the earlier diecast, working antenna, operational suspension, lift-out trunk mat and tire, high detailing on emblems, chassis and interior. The photoetched parts include seat belt ends and wipers and now a grille insert in lieu of the black-painted plastic of the '62. The fit is precise and the paint applied richly. The overall image is very, very appealing and the model is a must have for those of us that collect this American icon.
